  • “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those that love God, to those that are called according to His purpose” – Romans 8:28

As we step into a new year, yes, even a new decade, we as mission leaders of Jackson Youth For Christ do so with a great- er dependence on the Spirit of God to lead and guide us in these days ahead. Many of you already know that 2019 was a troubling year for us with the loss of our executive leader Henry A. Murphy (Ham, to his friends) this past September. Thank you for the support and prayers you have extended to Henry’s wife, Aleva, and their family over these past months.

Our scripture citing above is likely a familiar one and causes us to reflect more appropriately into God’s perfect plan. Even though circumstances sometimes cause us to question Him, we have this promise from His Word, “...all things (somehow) work together for good...” Make no mistake, God knew (vs. 29) way before we did what we would be experiencing today.

We will pause and pay tribute to a good
and Godly man, and yet Ham would want
us to move forward with this mission he so loved and gave his life to. Yes, Ham has left a legacy in the young leaders he has impacted for Christ.

From Ham’s blog: “I have led 264 1/2 youth retreats; 428 youth mission trips, 2,367 youth camps, & have spent 1,345,789 of hours dis- ciplining, shepherding, pastoring, & coaching teenagers from many cultures and back- grounds. (Ok, the numbers may be a little off, but you get the point!)” hamsights.com

Could we challenge some of you reading this who have been impacted by Ham’s life to come alongside us in this mission as we continue to speak into the lives of lost and hurting young people with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ? We are commit- ted to developing authentic Christ-sharing relationships with lost kids in our Jackson community.
